They have already done it 21 times!
The 22nd annual Da Capo will be held Sunday, April 10, 3:00 pm at Somerset Country Club. Only $25 for some fabulous music and food. Musical groups include Touch of Brass and the Aubrey Singers.
A Touch of Brass is an instrumental group of two trumpets and two trombones. The group has been providing music for almost every occasion for over 30 years in the Somerset, Johnstown, Bedford, Greensburg, and Pittsburgh area with a wide variety of music from formal chamber
music suitable for weddings and churches to lighter music appropriate for concert style as well as informal background music. The quartet also has a full set for Christmas and patriotic settings. Members of A Touch of Brass are professional musicians, belonging to the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and other performing ensembles, and music educators. 2010 was a very successful year!
The two auxiliaries under the leadership of Charlotte Aubrey and Eleanor Schrock made a pile of money for the symphony in 2010. My rough calculation adds up to over $21,000, and that is not counting the Hungarian Dinner, the Christmas flower sales, or the Opera Festival auction.
Bach’s Lunch made a profit of $3600. Thank you Dorothy Maravalli.
The Fashion Show made $5917. Thank you Mary Battaline, Mary Borkow, and Barbara Laslo.
The Garden Tour was a huge event involving a lot of people. It was extremely successful bringing in over $5000. Thank you Carole Schrum and Joan Moss.
Wow! The Opera Festival Auction under the leadership of Dorothy Maravalli earned over $30,000. Another big project!
The Johnstown and Somerset Auxiliaries joined to bring us the first annual “Bag Lady Luncheon” at Green Gables. They bagged $5000! This will happen again next year on Saturday, Oct 22, 2011.
Getting friendly with Boscov’s generated over $500.
The Hungarian Dinner and Dance held in partnership with Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center was a lot of fun and made a decent profit even after splitting it with Bottle Works.
The Somerset branch made some generous contributions under the leadership of Eleanor Schrock. Their Cookbook sales have passed $1000. DaCapo Benefit and the Mother’s Day Concert continue to work well for the Somersetters.
flower sales and deliveries are still ongoing, and Somerset has a big Christmas event on Dec 18 at Somerset C. C.
AND Auxiliary members serve as ushers and do diverse odd jobs whenever asked. When I asked for help with the 2011 Sustaining Fund Drive twelve (12) Auxiliary members signed up to help without hesitation. I love you ladies.
